I recently acquired another rangefinder camera the Yashica Electro 35 G series. Did I need another camera, not even a rangefinder?

No iPhone 4g but a Nexus One Google!

July 1st, 2010 No comments

Just received my Nexus One from Google and could not be more impressed. I purchased it directly from Google with free overnight shipping and unfortunately charged me tax. My phone is unlocked so I am not forced into any new contracts. My first impressions are just amazing. I love the look and weight of the phone. Some of the best apps and best of all everything is integrated with my existing Google contacts, calendar and etc…. ...Read More...

Los Angeles China Town

June 1st, 2010 No comments

Its been a long time since I’ve been to the China Town near downtown Los Angeles. It has not changed much, but has grown in size. I went there on the same day as Union Station.I got there around 10 in the morning and most people were just opening the stores. I thought it was great as my intent was just to grab a few photos of buildings.  I would say Los Angeles China Town is larger in size then San Francisco, but I like the SF better. ...Read More...

No Leica M8.2 or M9, FM2N on the way!

May 17th, 2010 5 comments

I sold most of my Nikon DSLR gear to fund a digital Leica. For now I feel like the M8.2 prices are on the way down and want to wait. I understand that a camera body looses value over time. I wanted to keep 2 Nikon lenses as they are not worth much on resale value, but I like the way photos looked on my D300. I kept the 35mm f2d lens reviewed by me here, 50mm 1.4G (I dont know if it will work on the old FM2N) and an old 100mm 2.8 e lens. ...Read More...

Camera Strap

April 22nd, 2010 No comments

Camera straps are sold in so many varieties, but to me a strap must work wit a specific camera. My DSLR and my Leica are 2 very different strap requirements. For my heavier Nikon D300 I use the Black Rapid StrapS RS5 strap. I checked quite a few various straps in a store in person and I though this would make a great addition. I liked the way it slings over the shoulder with the camera on the lower side. A very high quality strap and quick to draw when hanging on shoulder. Here is a video on Youtube.com that explains how to wear it. Even though in the vid it shows a big camera with a large lens it works perfect on smaller DSLR cameras. I originally got it when I had the Nikon D60 and it worked great. ...Read More...

Rollie Pan 25 and Diafine (B&W)

April 14th, 2010 2 comments

While in a photo store I decided to try a film unfamiliar to me Rollie Pan 25. Not much information is published regarding this made in Germany film in a strange container. I loaded my M6 and took it out and shot the entire roll in a day. I also just got the Voigtlander Ultron 28mm f/2 lens and needed to find out how it shoots. I burned through the roll quite fast within 24 hours in order to understand for my self for both reasons the film and the lens.

One More Roll of Tri-X 400

April 5th, 2010 No comments

Shot another roll of Tri-X 400 with Leica M6 TTL at 1250 EI and developed with Diafine. I am really liking the B&W photography. All of the day shots were captured with a 3 stop filter. See my Flickr stream for more…  Tried scanning as 16 bit images, 24 bit color images and next time I will try – scan as positive then invert and desaturate. Developing film at home is quite simple, but figuring how to scan takes some variation, patience and practice.
